Our hearts are sad yet we rejoice at the passing of our beloved Elder Bob. We are sad because we know how much Shirley and family will miss their covering. We too are sad because we know there was only one Bob Greer. However, we rejoice because we know Bob is right where he longed to be, sitting at the feet of Jesus. Can you imagine what that is like? I wonder how the reunion went with Bob and Don. I doubt it will cease for years. We know we can’t bring Bob back, but God’s Word promises we can go to Him some day if only we believe and live for His glory.Elder Bob graduated early Thursday morning, kind of fitting as one of the meetings Bob loved most was the 6:00am Men’s Prayer Meeting. We had somewhat of a record group that morning and none of the men had received the news. It seemed to me God just woke up several for the gathering of eagles.
Many of us will be sad, however, I know Bob would say without hesitation “Don’t be sad, be happy. I am where I longed to be. If you really want to remember me, press in, be faithful, learn the Word of God and help complete the vision God has given this church.”
As Bob’s Pastor, I guarantee you he wanted this new sanctuary to be built. I think somehow, he’ll still be able to help complete it. I know he inspired each and everyone of us, that alone, should make us quicken our steps in Christ Jesus.
Thank God for Bob’s ministry and his love for this church. He told me after finding this Body; it was the church he had searched for his whole life. He never looked back and said “Pastor, when I go to heaven, I want to be part of this Body.” And so it is and we shall remember his great love for Jesus and his uncanny ability of God’s Word.
God Bless you
Pastor Roger
